SARA LAMDANSKAJA

"These are Sara Lamdanskaja's memoirs relating to her life in Lithuania and beyond, before, during and after the WW2. Sara Lamdanskaja was born in 1911 in a little Lithuanian town of Telshai. Her love for learning led her to Kaunas University. By 1941, when the WW2 engulfed Lithuania, she was married and had a three year old daughter. She describes her experiences of life in Kaunas Ghetto and Shtuthof concentration camp, her efforts to save her daughter and herself from imminent death and the many miracles that helped her to survive. She remembers people from her childhood and those she met during the war. Jews and Lithuanians, Polish and Germans – all of them participated in her story in their own, often most unexpected, ways." - Roza Riaikkenen
